The Johnny Owen Band has been a Twin Cities mainstay for
over forty years. We specialize in ballroom or social dances.
Whether it's Foxtrot, Latin, Waltz, Old Time or Swing, amateur
and professional dancers love dancing to our band.

The J-O Band's15 piece configuration consists of five
saxophones, three trombones, three trumpets, a piano, guitar,
bass, and drums.  We play the dance music of the big bands
of the 1940s and 1950s as well as modern arrangements of
popular tunes.

The band is available for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays,
retirement parties, class reunions, private parties, and other
special events.

About Our Music

We use both stock arrangements and original arrangements written by band members. Our list of tunes includes over 400 titles. We play standard big band classics and swing tunes; Latin numbers, including cha-chas, tangos, rhumbas, mambos, and bossa novas. Our "book" includes both traditional and "old tyme" waltzes, polkas, and schottishes. We have a number of "big band" arrangements of rock tunes from the 50s, 60s, 70s up to but not including "rap."
